New Milton Infant School
Together, we make a difference
We strongly encourage all children to have a school meal at lunchtime, which are free to all infant aged children.
All infant aged children (regardless of family income) receive a free hot meal each school day through the governments "Universal Infant Free School Meal" scheme, so why not save time and money and allow your child to take a school lunch?
Each day at morning registration, children can choose between a vegetarian option (Green), a meal containing meat or fish (Red) or alternatively either a filled jacket potato or pasta option. (Blue) The school menus are rotated every 3 weeks and are published on our website to help you choose with your child.
Alternatively children can bring a healthy packed lunch to school.
Special Diets
Our caterer "Grow" will produce a special menu for all children who have medically diagnosed food allergies and have provided supporting medical evidence.
Please use the online notification form available under our "School Meals" page to notify the caterer of your child's food allergies so that a special individual menu can be planned in advance, ready for when your child starts school.
What to include in your child's lunch box
We promote healthy eating, and where possible parents should consider this when packing their child's lunchbox. Please pack a sandwich with a protein filling, fruit, and another healthy snack such as cucumber or carrot sticks.
We are a nut-free school, and parents must not pack any food containing nuts for their child. For this reason we do not allow chocolate spread sandwiches, cereal bars containing nuts, or any other foodstuffs that contain nuts. It is very important that this is followed as some children have severe allergy to nuts.
All the children will be provided with water to drink at lunchtime. All children should bring in a bottle of water to drink in class.
